Youth Exchanges: Our Journey Across Europe (2022–2026)

Since relaunching in late 2022, the Transylvanian Youth Center has been on an extraordinary journey — sending young people from Transylvania across the European continent through Erasmus+ Youth Exchange programs.

Youth Exchanges

Here is an overview of all the youth exchanges our association has been part of between 2022 and 2026:

1. "Why Modern Dating Sucks?" (February–March 2023, Zagreb, Croatia) — Our very first Erasmus+ Youth Exchange after restarting. Six young people spent 10 days exploring workshops on modern relationships, sexual and social differences, digital communication, and healthy relationship patterns.

2. "The Balance in You" (April 2023, Hollókő, Hungary) — A week-long exchange focused on mental and physical well-being through Zumba, time management, journal writing, ikebana, and healthy cooking.

3. "Women Rights Through History" (July–August 2023, Orahovica, Croatia) — Six young women explored women's rights throughout history with participants from 7 countries.

4. "Reconnecting to Nature by Reconnecting to Yourself" (September 2023, Rimetea, Romania) — Our first self-organized Youth Exchange, focusing on sustainable living, eco-activism, permaculture, and composting.

5. "RE-Tailors" (September 2023, Budapest, Hungary) — Raising awareness about fast fashion's negative impact through visits to sustainable fashion businesses.

6. "Mind the Gap" (January 2024, Vic/Barcelona, Spain) — A program centered on mental health, self-reflection, and art-based self-expression.

7. "Show Me Your Plate" (April 2024, Balatonalmádi, Hungary) — An intercultural learning experience through gastronomy with seven national teams.

8. "Common Grounds" (2024, Balatonalmádi, Hungary) — A creative exchange about European values and identity through creative writing, visual arts, and storytelling.

9. "Storytelling for Mental Health" (November 2024, Alanya/Antalya, Turkey) — Using storytelling as a tool to improve mental health, focusing on Ukrainian refugee women.

10. "Eco Roboteers" (May 2025, Kaunas, Lithuania) — Focusing on robotics and sustainability with 36 young people from four countries.

11. "Minds in Motion" (May–June 2025, Balatonalmádi, Hungary) — 37 young people from 6 countries participated in this mental health-focused exchange.

12. "Cultural Layers" (January 2026, Jerez de la Frontera, Spain) — Exploring the intersection of cultural heritage, 3D design, and 3D printing.

13. "PLAY-FULL: The Common (Play) Ground" (June 2026, Balatonalmádi, Hungary) — UPCOMING: exploring play as a tool for connection, inclusion, and learning.

Through these exchanges, more than 100 young people from Transylvania have had the opportunity to discover new cultures, develop vital life skills, and build lasting international friendships. We are grateful to the Erasmus+ programme and all our partner organizations for making this possible.
